Kim Jae-young, a violinist with a delicate tone and a serious inner sensibility, appeared in the Korean music industry at the age of 13 with a debut stage with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Afterwards, he entered Korea National University of Arts through Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, built his skills under Professor Kim Nam-yoon, and after graduation, he studied and graduated from the National University of Music in Munich as Christophe Poppen Sasa.

Early on, he won the Ewha Kyunghyang, the Hankook Ilbo, and the Dong-A Music Competition. He won second place in the 2003 Greek Young Violinist International Competition, fourth place in the Sarasate International Competition in the same year, third place in the 2007 Yun Isang International Competition, special prize, third place in the 2010 Montreal International Competition Final List, and third place in the 37th Lewis Sigal Competition.

Kim Jae-young, who showed passion and talent for chamber music from an early age, won the youngest award, the Hyundai Song Award and the Mahler Award at the age of 20 at the Spring International Competition in Prague in 2005. Since then, a year after forming Novus Quartet, he has solidified his position by winning third place at the 2008 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, followed by the Lyon International Competition in 2009 and the Haydn International Competition in 2012. In the fall of 2012, he won second place at the ARD International Competition, which boasts the world's most prestigious string quartet, making his name known on the European stage and winning the 2014 Salzburg Mozart International Competition.

Kim Jae-young is also active as a soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic, Suwon Symphony, Ulsan Symphony, Pohang Symphony, Gunsan Symphony, Korean Soloistz, TIMF Ensemble, Poland's Gdansk Philharmonic, Vienna Mozart Orchestra and Mujikferin, and has been steadily creating stages with fellow musicians through activities such as recitals with pianist Son Ye-eum, pianist Sunwoo Ye-kwon and Moon Ji-young.
